Work training is a practical learning program that provides students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have learned at school while gaining hands-on work experience and developing professional skills. Over a period of three months, the students completed their training at various resorts, including Thalassa Dive and Wellbeing Resort Manado and Lembeh, Siladen Resort, Oasis Bunaken Resort, Bunaken Village Resort, 3Will Bunaken Resort, Murex Resort Manado, Dive Into Lembeh, Grand Luley, Celebes Resort, and NDC Resort Manado.
Throughout the training period, supervising teachers visited each resort once a month to monitor the students’ progress, discuss their performance with workplace mentors, and provide guidance, encouragement, and motivation.
At their training sites, students were assigned to several departments based on the needs of each resort, including Housekeeping, Front Office, Food and Beverage, and Diving. Each department provided valuable learning experiences. In the Housekeeping department, students learned how to prepare and maintain guest rooms to ensure they were clean, tidy, and comfortable. In the Front Office, they practiced assisting guests, from the check-in process to providing information and delivering excellent customer service. In the Food and Beverage department, students learned how to serve food and beverages in a friendly and professional manner. Meanwhile, in the Diving department, students gained experience assisting diving activities as boat crew and accompanying guests as snorkeling guides.
Throughout the training program, students not only improved their technical skills but also developed important workplace qualities such as discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and effective communication.
After completing the work training program, all students returned to school to continue their studies and prepare their training reports as a reflection of and accountability for the valuable experience they had gained.
